good old mySQL; I was pondering sqlite, but there were to many unknowns and size limitations.

I have been sticking to sqlite for quite a while. No problems so far. Most small businesses are using shared hosting and mysql database server is based on seperate server. The speed sucks. After using sqlite, the over performance is significant.
