Looking for a FT Web Developer, London to work on some great upcoming projects

A role has become available for a Web Developer to join us at our central London studio. ico is a small, sociable and prolific design team with an enviable history. We create brands and produce exceptional digital media for clients from the retail, arts, property, leisure and museum sectors. A sample of our clients includes The Science Museum, Snog Frozen Yogurt, Penguin, National Museum of Scotland, Heron International, Total Office, National Railway Museum and Ladybird, just to name a few. Our team has created brands, designed and developed interactive touch screen exhibits, mobile apps, websites and made some toy chickens race down a track in response to people flapping their arms. What your role will involve:

This role will involve working through the full website/software development life cycle on a variety of projects, including integration, hosting, infrastructure, maintenance, bug fixing and support.

We are a busy studio, so you will be working on a variety of projects at one time, at different stages of development.

This will be an excellent opportunity for a fresh and talented programmer who has some experience but wants an environment to test their skills and move to the next level on high-profile and challenging projects, with the guidance of our senior web developer.

What we need you to have

Experience and good working knowledge of:

  • Object-oriented programming

  • PHP 5

  • HTML (including HTML5 and XHTML)

  • Javascript / JQuery

  • CSS

  • Accessibility, cross-browser compliance

  • Ability to work with version control systems, preferably SVN

  • Minimum 3-5years experience working in a similar environment

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to independently ensure tasks are seen through to completion.

  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for the tasks you undertake both independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Current ability to work within the UK and start within 1-2 months. Preferably already living in the London area.

What we’d like you to have

  • Knowledge e-commerce applications, preferably Magento

  • Knowledge of MVC framework Yii

  • Ability to work with MySQL databases

  • Experience of Photoshop & Illustrator

  • A degree qualification or equivalent

  • A personality that fits in with our social, results-orientated office culture.

  • A passion for design / technology that you feed by keeping up to date with the latest developments and changes, primarily in the web and mobile spaces.

  • Experience using Mac.

  • A live portfolio of past projects
