hello,

As an early present we added the most requested feature on the YiiThemes site ... LIVE PREVIEW!

You can check it out here: WP-StarCraft

So now, you can test all the (featured) themes on a LIVE YII install :)

Enjoy, and Happy Holidays!

how can I convert a wordpress or Joomla theme to Yii?

Is there a tool that does it for you?

I have heard of a tool called artisteer, but don't have
any idea if it's any good or if you could create yii themes with it.

silewi,

I converted a WordPress theme by myself (StarCraft) in about 1.5 hrs http://yiithemes.meh.../5/wp-starcraft and I'm not a front-end developer.

to use/crate themes under Yii is very easy, if you know what you are doing.

I just added an Artisteer based theme. I will (eventually) write something up explaining how to convert them. Be
sure to read the README.1ST file before using.

Artisteer City Lights

Edit: Oops! Link corrected. Thx

Haha. I'm not a designer either, but I can figure out just about anything if I stare at it long enough. Sometimes that's a very long time. :)

Update on Artisteer City Lights Theme. There is a typo in the views/layouts/main.php file that affects the javascript necessary for buttons. The line should read:
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo Yii::app()->theme->baseUrl; ?>/css/script.js"></script>

The fix has already been uploaded.

Just an FYI. I wanted to see how long it would take to convert a new Artisteer theme, so I just uploaded a second one: Artisteer - Tree Mountain

It takes less than 30 minutes starting with an already converted theme as a base. I don't know the exact time, because of the button error I found in the previous post. I plan on posting a how-to article within the next week.
