Is there a more comprehensive basic app (with the create/read/update/delete and listings and how theme works) that I can download to speed up the learning curve?

The basic testdrive app do not have all these and I have a tough time understanding how create those myself.

Any pointers is greatly appreciated.

Oh.. sorry for not going through the docs in detail. Its just too overwhelming for me.

I went through Larry Ullman Employee/Dept guide step by step and glad I did.

Will try the blog app now..
