Yii 1 will be supported for about 1 more year while Yii 2 is still not production ready.

Any advice on what to chose to go into production in about 3 months?

I suggest Yii2. I’ve already started the new projects on Yii2, no issues so far.

Y2 documentation which is the main issue so far is getting better with peoples’ question getting answered :)

I would stick to Yii 1 as the dev team has exclusively mentioned that most of the things could get changed at any time. So you might end up in nowhere if you use current Yii 2 release.
