I use the pdf extension to get to mPdf.
The beausy of mPdf is that it converts html to pdf. So you can use the same html view on the screen and on the printer.
You might need different css for the printed version - but I keep the twitter bootstrap screen css and then simply redefine new page-related widths for span1, span2, etc. So the same view realy works on a responsive screen and on the printer.
By using pdf, you are also sure that anybody on the internet can open the printout.
The only drawback is that mPdf creates huge pdf files. Maybe this can be improved/tweaked.
