No, I can't recommend that you use Node and Yii at the same time. :)

Pick a Node.js powered MVC framework instead, like Express, Geddy or whatever they're called.

Can't see any reason why you want to use two server-side languages/frameworks, node and php.

However, if you want to use a frontend Javascript powered framework - Knockout,js or Backbone - you should be fine with using Yii (for the backend).

What about all the features needed to implement a full-blown backend interface: User authentication, RBAC, form validation etc. Are they supported by the Node.js powered MVC frameworks? Are they as easy to implement as with Yii?

Lots of good stuff for Node.js.

We are really talking about two technologies/languages meant to be run at the server: PHP and Node.js.

If you like Node, then go for it.
I haven't really got an oversight of what's available for Node, but here's a list for starters:
http://codevisually.com/?s=node

Personally, I'm not that interested in Node because it usually requires that you have a VPS to run it.
And I like PHP.
