I think "high-performance" is a key word for Yii and for its success. How many people have downloaded and tried Yii after reading this page (linked from the home page)?

And most important, they experienced that the claim is credible. That was good marketing, even if Yii does not have a marketing department. ;)

That page needs a major update... Laravel should be included as well.

Thanks! This is exactly the philosophy behind Yii. We want Yii to have less twisted code while still very flexible to be customized.

One thing I really love in Yii is its "straightness" ...

"Yii: Yes It Is for rapid and secure web application development"

Nice!

How about: Yii is Credible!

I think a big part of a pull for Laravel is its word usage. Eloquent does make you want to look more and then by the time you use it enough you can't be bothered to switch.

However good laravel might be it just doesn't sound "enterprise" like zend or symfony.

What is Yii's market?
Who do you want as users?
Does the top page (landing page) reflect your customers tastes?

Laravel, zend and symfony pulls you in. Zend is well zend and symfony scares you away with its forums.

One of Yii's biggest assists is its forum.

I'd ommit the words 'fast', 'secure' and 'professional' as they are already included in the main statement/description.

Change Haensels proposal to:
a modern and rock solid open source PHP framework made to achieve more with less code

a modern and rock solid open source PHP framework made to achieve more with less code
This sounds nice. how it'd be if we say it like

a modern and rock solid open source PHP framework to achieve more with less code
(or)
a modern and rock solid open source PHP framework to do more with less code

Its just an idea.. Cheers :)

I think this whole discussion is just silly. The only sane way out of it is to now have a slogan or whatever at all :)

I'm late, I know.

What about something short, that still covers all corners/aspects?
Something like "Perfection in action".
