As far as I know, there’s no such problem… could you paste your menu code?
You may also like mbmenu extension, I had some troubles with CMenu and submenus, and mbmenu is very good.

Well in fact, I used CMenu very little, and switched to mbmenu early. Now, searching the forum, there seem to be some issues with the active item.
Some members seem to have found solutions in this thread.
This should be no problem. Did you check the ‘active’ option name in items ?
