I always try to remember reloading the page and examine the current "users reading this topic" list before replying to a post. If any other user is replying, the user name will be shown in italics. (On rare occasions this will not work).

I noticed sometimes nicks were in italic but didn't know why :)

Interesting find. But should you see me replying, i would not rely on that. Too often i start a reply just to later find out that it's not good enough and cancel it again - i was very close to doing the same here now ;)
